Experiencing anxiety is a normal part of daily life. However, some individuals frequently have intense, persistent and excessive worry and fear about everyday situations. For the past 10 years, I have worked with individuals to understand how anxiety works, identify useful strategies to manage the anxiety and restore lost confidence and competence . Therapy provides insight through discovering and working with underlying thoughts and beliefs; and by exposure through reintroducing the anxiety-producing thoughts, people, situations, or event. Relaxation techniques, including meditation, may be employed in order to control the symptoms of physiological arousal which is associated with anxiety.
In severe cases, the help of both therapy and medication is recommended.
